With the lurking fear surrounding infectious disease, it is clear that foundational health is more important than ever. Pathogens cannot thrive in a healthy environment, and that environment is you.

Lori Earley, owner and functional medicine practitioner of Phoenix Rising Acupuncture & Integrative Medicine has created the following immune support protocol. While each person has unique biology and biochemistry, this is a general recommendation for most healthy individuals. Please contact your healthcare provider to address your specific health needs.

THE PHOENIX RISING IMMUNE SUPPORT PROTOCOL:

Many of you have asked about ways in which you can best support your health during this time. The 5 pillars of foundational health include:

1. HEALTHY DIET (GUT HEALTH)

(+) bone broth, vegetable stew, cooked green vegetables with avocado or coconut oil

(+) ginger, rosemary, scallions, onions, garlic, scallions, turmeric, cinnamon

(+) room temperature water with lemon, warm herbal teas

(+) Vitamin D3 (with K2), Vitamin C, Zinc, Glutathione, herbal formulas

(-) eliminate sugar, dairy, gluten, fried foods, and alcohol

2. ADEQUATE SLEEP

(-) Eliminate blue light, which prevents melatonin secretion (get off your screens by 8pm and always use blue light blockers when you are on your screen). Blue light damages mitochondria too, which are the powerhouse of cellular health. (+) Purchase effective blue light blockers (this is one of only two companies that have been proven effective at blocking damaging blue light). Order yours via link in bio. (+) Be asleep by 11pm (the best time for restorative sleep)

(+) Melatonin supplementation

3. STRESS MANAGEMENT & MINDSET

(+) Laugh, meditate, breathe, journal

(+) If you need extra support, herbal remedies are available & emotional release techniques can be taught via telemedicine conference call

(-) Put away the news. It is breeding fear and alarm, and much of it is not fact based, but commentary. Get news reports from credible sources and limit your time scrolling through social media and news reports. Remember that stress and fear can impact the immune system.

4. MOVEMENT

(+) With this beautiful weather, go out for a walk. (I rollerbladed 8 miles over the past two days.)

(+) Enjoy nature's natural Vitamin D source: the sun. Get some sunshine on your skin.

(-) Sleep in, but don't lie on the couch all day. Get your steps in.

5. HYGIENE

(+) Wash you hands at least 20 seconds with soap and water often.

(+) Brush and floss your teeth at least twice daily.

(+) Wear a mask when you go to a crowded place, like grocery store.

(+) Wear gloves at the gas station and grocery.
